1. Do laminate floors scratch?
Laminate floor is good for household with pets. Pets usually don't scratch laminate floor. However, animals have different habits and sand or other particles may stick to their claws. To minimize scratching, it is recommended to trim your pets' nails regularly. Laminate flooring is extremely hard and is very resistant to scratching. However, it is not "scratch-proof". To minimize scratching, place doormats or rugs by exterior doorways to collect dirt or gravel. Remove any sand or grit immediately. Use felt or similar protectors under furniture legs and other easily movable furniture. Lift heavy objects instead of pulling or sliding them across the floor.
                     2. Should I continue if the first row of my flooring didn't get installed straight?
The straightness of the first row is critical to the entire installation. If the first row does not get aligned properly or the joints are not sealed tightly, the overall installation will be compromised. Planks along both sides and ends must be parallel to each other or wedge-shaped gaps between planks will be resulted.
                    3. How do I clean my laminate floor?
Regularly vacuum or sweep your laminate floor serves the purpose of general cleaning. You can also choose to wipe your floor occasionally with a cloth mop or a light damp cloth. Frequent cleaning with water is not necessary. To remove heavier spots or stains, apply a cleaner especially formulated for varnished hardwood floors or a nonabrasive household cleaner diluted in water. A mixture of household vinegar or ammonia and water is suitable for heavier cleaning as well. Avoid applying soap-based detergents or wax-based products to your laminate floor as these may leave a dull finish on your floor.
                  4. How can I improve the shininess of my laminate floor?
Shininess of the laminate flooring is a manufactured characteristic which can not be modified. So, you never need to wax or polish your laminate floor.
5 . How can I remove the glue traces left on my laminate floor?
New traces can be removed by using warm water with damp cloth. Any glue traces missed in the initial cleaning can be removed by household ammonia and water mixture with a damp mop or cloth.
                    6. How can I fix marks, cuts or dents on the laminate floor?
Smaller damages such as dents or chips can be done with the manufacturer-specified repair kit. If the area to be repaired is larger, it is recommended to replace the entire damaged plank. Individual planks can be replaced when needed.
7  Can I install a laminate floor on top of existing flooring material?
Laminate flooring can be installed over most existing floors. If carpet is the existing material, we need to pay attention to the carpet padding. Any short-fiber carpet without thick carpet padding is all right. For carpet installed over thick padding, it is recommended to remove both the underlayment foam and the carpet. If the carpet was laid directly over a concrete floor, all types of carpet and underlayment foam must also be removed.
                       8. How should moldings be installed?
Moldings can be glued or nailed to the wall, but not to the floor.
                     9. Why is a moisture barrier applied on concrete?
A vast amount of water can be trapped by concrete floors below ground. Since the soil adjacent to the concrete can bring humidity to the floor, it is important to avoid direct contact between the laminate flooring and the concrete floor.
                     10. Types of floor, Solid, Semi-Solid & Engineered?
Solid - floors which have the specific wood for the whole thickness of the floor. These are normally fixed to the sub-floor.
Semi-Solid - floors which have a very thick layer of the specific wood on top of a less expensive wood.
Engineered - floating hardwood floors made up of 3 layers: a hardwood veneer (14 or 15 mm); a core layer and a stabilizing base layer. These are usually pre-finished with either a lacquer or an oil. (These can also referred to as "laminate" floors.)
11.Can I have an engineered floor on top of concrete?
Yes, using a suitable underlay and a surface vapour barrier on top of the concrete. This is not to be confused with the damp proof membrane in the concrete. You must have both.
12.Can I have a solid floor on top of concrete?
No we do not recommend laying a solid floor directly on to concrete
13.Can I have a solid floor on top of floorboards?
Yes, solid floors can be nailed directly to existing floorboards. If laying in the same direction as the floorboards then lay 3/8 inch  ply first.
                       14. What do I do if my concrete floor is not level?
You can level your concrete floor using self a levelling compound.
15.Can I have a wood floor in the kitchen and which one?
Yes a wooden floor in a kitchen is just fine! You can use both solid and engineered.
16.Can I have a wood floor in the bathroom and, if so, which one?
We do not recommend hardwood flooring of any type in a bathroom
17.Can I have wood floor on top of existing tiles, vinyl, or wood floor?
Yes you can as long as you choose a floating and engineered floor.
                       18. Can I have a wood floor on top of under floor heating?
Yes and because of their stability, engineered floors are the most suitable.
19.How often will I need to restore my floor?
This will depend on how well you look after your floor. In a normal domestic situation we anticipate that the floor will require refinishing every 10 to 15 years
20.Can I have my stairs done in wood floor?
Yes you can. We have matching wooden nosing (stair edges) for all of our floors.
                         21. Do wood floors change color?
Yes they do, it's all part of owning a beautiful and natural hardwood floor.
22.Will my furniture dent/scratch the floor?
All wood floors dent and scratch. However, to minimize this use felt pads and casters on the bottom of your furniture, especially chairs.
23.Do I need to cut down my doors?
Yes, if the new floor is higher than your existing floor.
24.Do I need to acclimatize my floor before it is fitted?
Yes and No. Engineered floors need no acclimatization and in fact once a pack is opened the floor must be fitted. A solid floor will need a minimum of one week to acclimatize, and longer periods of acclimatization are highly recommended.
                        25.What is a floating floor ?
A floating floor is where all the planks are either glued or clipped to each other, and not to the existing floor. All floating floors require an underlay between the existing floor and the new " floating-floor". The floor is held in place by mass, but can expand and contract freely, by means of expansion gaps.
                        26. What is an expansion gap ?
An expansion gap is the distance from the edge of your new flooring and an immovable object, such as a wall, fireplace, door casing etc. The gap normally needs to be 1/2 inch but will increase on very large rooms and different products.
                        27.What is a clik floor ?
A clik floor, or commonly " glueless floor" is flooring that requires no glue within the groove of the plank. The planks are held together by means of a mechanical fastener, or modern planks are designed so that they snap together. Many manufacturers are producing this type of flooring now, some good and some awful.
                       28. What is Laminate ?
Laminate actually accounts for hardwood veneer flooring and the modern laminated artificial planks. Laminating is a process of sandwiching together various layers to create what we would say was a plank. Laminate flooring as we know it generally consists of a top wear layer, a photograph, core board and a counter-balancing bottom layer. Hardwood veneer flooring, is similar however it incorporates generally a , veneered hardwood layer, cross grained core, and a counter-balancing bottom layer. Similar to the way plywood is constructed. This makes it very strong and stable, as opposed to solid hardwood.
                         29. What is the sub-floor ?
The sub-floor is basically your existing structural floor. This will be constructed of Concrete or Timber. All timber floors must have cross ventilation below the floor level. So make sure the air bricks on the outside of the house are clear.
30.Laminate flooring on my staircase ?
You must use the correct nose and riser trims.
